Simplicity of Heart Counseling Services began in December 1997, after Dr. Manuel Reyes received his doctorate in ministry.
In 2005, Dr. Reyes received his Ph.D. in counseling and was
awarded his MFT License with the American Society of Christian Therapists.
To date Dr. Reyes has completed his Doctorate in Biblical Counseling and his Ph.D.
His work has included working with many types of victims, addicts, molesters, suicidal victims, perpetrators, and families with marriage and family issues. He has spent over twenty years helping people in various situations of their lives. His most profound challenges came from those who were perpetrators as well as those who were molested and/or suicidal.
Currently, Dr. Reyes is completing his EMDR Certification with
EMDRIA and the EMDR center, Watsonville, California. His
Program has been approved and developed by Dr. Francine
Shapiro, founder and author of EMDR. Dr. Reyes' desire to
Help PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) men and women
came because of his experiences in Vietnam.
Simplicity of Heart is a an organization whose mission is to help those being victimized and those victimizing.
What I Believe and Provide:
I believe that therapy is an interactive process, requiring effort and genuineness from both the client and the therapist. You will get out of therapy as much as you put into it. I see my part as a facilitator for change, working with you in a supportive, guiding and non-judgment manner that will help you achieve the level of happiness and success that you desire in your life. My goal is to provide a safe and comfortable space for clients through building a trusting and caring relationship, allowing them to feel empowered and have a positive therapeutic experience.
I provide short and long term therapy tailored to the client’s needs, blending in-depth work with solution focused therapy. Understanding past experiences can increase self-awareness and provide individuals with the necessary tools and strength to move forward. However, examining the past behaviors can be of help as well.
In my work, I utilize therapeutic models and tailor those models to the clients’ needs and goals. I look at individuals as whole persons, rather than a constellation of symptoms or a mere label. This means that I may delve into the client’s world to come to a complete understanding of the surrounding systems of the client, thus moving away from pathologizing. My goal is to help you reach your potential and uncover new possibilities for healing.
